My Favorite Places in Boston
By Nuray Salina
If you are CATS student, you have probably already explored some places in Boston. Here are 5 places I have discovered and like best. I recommend that you see them when you have some spare time.
- Museum of Fine Arts, Boston: The art collection at the Museum of Fine Arts is vast; there are more than 450,000 items in its collection. This is one of those places where you can lose the sense of time as you explore all that it has to offer. There are so many works of art to see. I’ve been to the Museum of Fine Arts four times and still look forward to my next visit.
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge: MIT is one of the top research universities in the United States that is open to anybody interested in taking a tour and experiencing something new. At MIT there are student-led tours and self-guided walking maps available for visitors. I recommend the Museum of Cancer, library, common areas, lecture halls, chemical engineering building, and science laboratories, which are all great places to explore on the campus.
- Boston Common Park, Boston: A 50-acre park, Boston Commons is the perfect place to spend a day. Those who enjoy an active lifestyle can jog or bike down one of the many paths. There are also many relaxing activities to do here: You can read a book on the grass, have a picnic with friends, or simply observe the wonders of nature and European architecture around you.
- TD Garden, Boston: TD Garden is the home arena where the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins sports teams play. The Garden also hosts tournaments, competitions, and concerts. Popular singers like Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, and Tony Bennett have also performed on the stage. Attending a game or show at the Garden is an exciting event that you will always remember.
- Government Center: Government Center is a busy part of Downtown Boston located near Faneuil Marketplace. Famous for its federal office buildings, Government Center includes Boston City Hall, JFK Federal Building, City Hall Plaza, Government Service Center, and The Boston Globe. There are also many shops and restaurants in the area. I like the atmosphere there. The sight of men and women in suites rushing in and out of buildings during a work day inspires me to think that I may someday be like them, employed by a business or organization engaged in important work.
